UF Student Apartment Review: The Standard at Gainesville (Updated for 2024)

As a college student, deciding where to live can be one of the hardest, and most important, decisions that you make.

As a UF student myself, I know that looking for student housing near the University of Florida, especially near campus, can be very overwhelming.

While our location at Sweetwater has a full suite of amenities and floor plans that appeal to various student needs, we know that it is important to understand all of your options before making such a big decision. If you’re looking at Sweetwater as a student housing option, you may also be looking at The Standard.

To make sure you have all of the information you need to make an informed decision, we have compiled an honest review of The Standard at Gainesville to help you feel confident during your student housing search.

The Standard at Gainesville: UF Apartment Review

The Basics

Before getting into the details, these quick stats will give you a feel for The Standard’s community:

Address: 1360 W. University Ave

Location: Corner of 13th St and University Ave

Year Built: 2017

Location

Across the street from UF’s campus, The Standard at Gainesville is located on the corner of University Ave and 13th Street.

The Standard is just steps away from Chick-Fil-A, Target, and Bento and is across the street from Publix and Starbucks. The Standard is also a two-minute walk to Matherly Hall and Anderson Hall, and a three-minute walk to Hub on 3rd.

Parking

The Standard Parking Garage

If you’re planning on bringing a car or scooter, The Standard offers resident parking in the garage at an additional monthly cost. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. At the time of publication, there was no information on The Standard’s website about what they charge for parking.

Amenities

On the first floor, The Standard has an on-site management center. The rooftop clubhouse features a game room, racquetball court, golf simulator, tanning beds, pool tables, an academic study lounge, and a computer lab with iMacs and a printer.

The Standard’s rooftop resort-style pool deck is complete with a jumbotron, cabanas, various seating, and an outdoor kitchen for grilling. The property fitness center offers a free-bar squat rack, strength equipment, cardio machines and free weights. For VIP residents, The Standard offers a VIP pool and lounge with a study room, game room, and sauna.

The Standard has a controlled access fob system, plus deadbolts on all unit doors.

All apartments are fully furnished. The units include internet, a TV in the living area, full-sized kitchens with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a washer and dryer. Premium rooms have a spacious living area with 32” TVs in each bedroom.

Pricing

The Standard at Gainesville offers a variety of apartments on just about every type of floor plan.

  • Two bedroom: 2×2
  • Three bedroom: 3×3
  • Four bedroom: 4×3, 4×4
  • Five bedroom: 5×3, 5×4, 5×5
  • Six bedroom: 6×6

At the time of publication on December 2023, rates for 2024 – 2025 at The Standard range from the $1,100s to over $1,900 per person, per month, depending on unit type. All rates are subject to change. You can find current availability and pricing on The Standard’s floor plans page.
